| LIS | Laboratory Information System. |
| LOINC | Logical Observation Identifiers Names and Codes — a standard for identifying laboratory and clinical observations. |
| PACS | Picture Archiving and Communication System — stores and provides access to medical images. |
| RIS | Radiology Information System. |
| RWE | Real-World Evidence — evidence derived from routine clinical care rather than a controlled trial. |
| RxNorm | A standardised nomenclature for clinical drugs, maintained by the US National Library of Medicine. |
| SaMD | Software as a Medical Device — software intended for a medical purpose, regulated independently of hardware. |
| SDTM / ADaM | CDISC standards for organising and analysing clinical trial data. |
| SNOMED CT | Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine — Clinical Terms. A comprehensive clinical terminology. |
| SMART on FHIR | A framework for building applications that connect to any FHIR-based health system. |
| VNA | Two related meanings appear on this site. As an imaging term, VNA is a Vendor Neutral Archive — a repository decoupled from any single PACS.
